Being Thankful to Allah

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

*Being Thankful to Allah*

And ˹remember˺ when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more. But if you are ungrateful, surely My punishment is severe.’”
Quraan 14:7

Allah allows us to breathe, He allows us to talk, He allows us to eat, He allows us to walk, in short everything we do is with Allah’s permission.

Even being grateful and thankful to Allah is not possible without Him permitting us to do so. It is He who created us, and it is because of Him we exist.

How much shukr can we do, and how obedient can we be to even start appreciating the gifts Allah has given us?

Allah’s rahmat (mercy) is such, that while we are thanking Him for all His gifts and favours, He is rewarding us for doing so and promising to give us more.

After all these favours and gifts, what type of Muslims are we, that we are disobedient and ungrateful to Him? What type of Muslims are we, that we try and make our own laws and change that which He has decreed and revealed? Yet, our creator is so merciful that if we turn to Him in repentance, He not only forgives us but rewards us.

We have to realise this reality, so we can start walking the path of deen and bring ourselves closer to believing in Him and worshipping Him the way He should be. However, remember the warning of our creator, that if we do not change our ways, if we are ungrateful by being disobedient, then His punishment is severe.

May Allah make us all strong on Islam, and may He give make us from amongst he grateful servants.
